NBA betting is a set of separate questions about one game, and most beginner mistakes come from mixing them up. Regulars do start on the moneyline and the total, because those two need no margin arithmetic.

A worked spread, in pesos

Say the Lakers are listed at -6.5 and the Spurs at +6.5, with decimal odds of 1.90 each way. A PHP 500 stake on the Lakers returns PHP 950 if they win by 7 or more: PHP 450 profit plus the stake back. If they win by 6, the bet loses.

1. Add or subtract the line from the final score.
2. Compare the adjusted score with the opponent’s.
3. Multiply the stake by the odds if your side is ahead.

Totals and props

A total of 224.5 means the two teams’ combined points decide the bet; at decimal 1.90, PHP 400 on under returns PHP 760. Props follow one player’s number, such as points or rebounds. New players often forget that a prop depends on the player taking the floor. Read the void rule before you confirm, since it says what happens when he sits out.

Time zone and the 21 rule

US evening tip-offs arrive in the morning in Manila, so check the clock on the slip. Only players 21 or older may bet, and only via PAGCOR-licensed operators. The sports betting hub lists the other guides, and the same market logic applies to football betting.
